Once I learnt about my anxiety I had begun my self journey of finding ways to cope. These are 6 ways that I personally manage my anxiety and take note that this may not be for everybody.
1. Music
If I'm too in my head and in my thoughts than music has been a great source of helping me drown out the negativity
2. Lavendar
I found out that the scent of lavender helps calm the mind so I have a Scentsy in my kitchen that I turn on often
3. Hobbies
I personally engage in a lot of different hobbies which include, cooking/baking, reading, gardening, photography which all give me the escape that I sometimes desire or need.
4. Passion Flower
I was introduced to passion flower and the description of it is to calm restlessness. I take it daily and find that it helps me keep a clear mind. If I have trouble sleeping than I take in the evening before I go to bed. I have tried two different brands and the one brand works best for me... for whatever reason the other brand I take .. at night.. keeps my mind active more so but I do know that that is a side effect. Please do your research and speak to a medical professional before taking this. I am not a licensed medical professional.
5. Support System
I have a few people in my life that I know I can turn to.. I find talking about what I'm feeling or dealing with helps me get through that anxiety feeling quicker. This allows me to vent in a healthy and constructive manner. I've also learnt that being there for my support also gives me that distraction that we sometimes need as well.
6. Journaling/Blogging
Deciding to write down my feelings and thoughts was a huge leap for me. I don't mean just publicly because that is on a whole other level but just finally expressing my true feelings. I find it very therapeutic and almost like removing the weight off my shoulders.
I have tried Yoga but I don't find that it helps me with my anxiety.. however I do think that because my children are very loud proponents in my house that it may contribute to why it doesn't help me necessarily. I've also been trying to find my way to going to a therapist.. this has been a struggle for me but it is a great way for managing anxiety I just don't want to write about it because I haven't yet explored this option. Once I do, I'll be more than happy to share my experience.
At the end of the day you need to find what works best for you and there is no judging on what that may be. I do believe in talking to your medical professional about what you are dealing with and they may be able to be that support you need.
I'm always available to listen to you and please take care of your mental health.
A HEALTHY YOU, IS A HAPPY YOU!
