Must Be Nice To Be A Stay At Home Mom

"Must be nice to be a stay at home"... Have you been told this before? I've found it to be interesting how much people have to say when you stay at home with your children or when you are a working parent. I've done both.

I've found when you stay at home you are considered lazy, financially wealthy, have nothing to complain about and "lucky".

I also found when I worked a full time job I was considered too busy, impatient, non-committing and stressed out.

I found when I stayed home people told me I was smothering my children.

While I was working, I was told I wasn't giving my children enough of my time.

As I stayed home, I was told that I must be bored and have too much time on my hands to be able to grow my own food and have hobbies.

As a working mom, I was told that I needed more hobbies for myself .

The biggest one for me.. while at home I was pushed to get a job and when I had a job I was pushed to quit my job. I literally laugh at this. There are no words to describe how backwards this all is.

WELL.. let me tell you this one piece of advice if you've been in this position.. DON'T GIVE A F**k. Truthfully, a lot of these comments I've been told or have heard, all come from close family. Interesting enough, I've never heard this from my closest friends. Sometimes blood isn't that thick.

Now, I wanted to show these comparisons because I believe that whatever you've chosen for your path in life.. it's your path. Don't allow other's to come in and try to steer your course. I've learnt from this to set boundaries and to limit myself to that negative exposure. It's brought me peace to be able to do this and have a healthier mindset. Family is family however you don't have to be around that.

Be strong and believe in yourself. You know what's best for you so do it.
