What kids don't love bubbles? Both of my kids adore bubbles, bubble machines and all of the above. One thing as a parent though is that they go through the solution in a snap of a finger. I can't stand spending so much money on the big bubble refill bottles and then it gets dumped by "accident". NO MORE! Let's make our own.
You will need for the refill container:
Laundry detergent container
Paint (if you want to pretty up the container)
Clean out the leftover laundry soap residue out of the container. (If you don't do this it will hinder your homemade solution)
Here are different solutions I've tried and what I found with each.
Homemade Bubble Solution With Corn Syrup
(thank you to raisinglittlesuperheroes.com )
Prep Time 10 Minutes
Ingredients
4 cups of warm water
1 cup of REGULAR DAWN dish soap
1/2 cup of light corn syrup
Mix the warm water and the corn syrup in a large bowl/container.
Add the dish soap slowly and mix in without stirring up bubbles
Pour into the laundry container
Set outside on a table and show the kids how to use it. This solution was difficult for me because I didn't know there are different types of dawn dish soap and turns out I have an ultra dawn which is too concentrated. I still found that altering the recipe to my soap was very difficult and the bubbles weren't super strong.
Do you have better success than me with this solution?
Homemade Bubble Solution with Honey
(thank you to www.extremebubbles.com )
Ingredients
4 cups of warm water
1/2 cup of REGULAR DAWN dish soap
1/3 cup of honey
Mix the water with the honey until dissolved. Gently stir in the soap (try not to create foam/bubbles) Let stand for 1 hour
This one did create better bubbles but still not the strongest. Also using my homemade honey is not top of my list.
Homemade Bubble Solution with Cornstarch & Baking Powder
Ingredients
12 cups of warm water
1 cup of REGULAR DAWN dish soap
1 cup of cornstarch
2 TBSP of baking powder
Result
My favorite solution that we tried was the honey. It had the strongest bubbles.
The laundry container is definitely handy but you may want to figure out your solution before putting it in. I made the mistake of adding solution before testing it and had to take it out to fix it. Otherwise it was a great fix to less solution loss
I hope you find which one works best for you .. Let me know if you have any cool tips and tricks.
